Everest One Pass Trek

Welcome to Nepal! Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will greet you and drive you over to your hotel. Settle in, relax, and spend your evening enjoying a traditional Nepali welcome dinner accompanied by a local cultural dance program.

An early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas before landing on the famous hillside runway. From Lukla, your foot journey begins with a gentle descent through lush scenery, small Sherpa hamlets, and prayer-carved boulder fields to Phakding.

The trail leads you along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River and across several high suspension bridges. After entering the Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint at Monjo, you will cross the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge before tackling a long, demanding uphill zigzag through pine forests to reach the vibrant town of Namche Bazaar.

Spend the day helping your body adjust to the higher altitude. Take a steep but rewarding day hike up to the Everest View Hotel for a spectacular panorama of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Afterward, you can wander down through the traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde before returning to Namche.

The trail starts with a scenic, relatively flat traverse before dropping sharply down to Phunki Thenga for lunch by the river. From there, you face a steady, challenging afternoon climb through rhododendron forests to Tengboche, home to the largest and most famous Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region.

Descend through beautiful birch and conifer forests to cross the Imja Khola, passing ancient mani walls. As you climb past Pangboche village, the trees completely disappear, giving way to a raw alpine landscape. You will enter the wide, windswept Imja Valley to arrive at the stone-walled village of Dingboche.

Spend a second mandatory rest day in Dingboche to prepare your body for the very high altitude ahead. To help your lungs adapt, you will take a steep acclimatization day hike up the rocky ridges of Nangkartshang Hill. From the top, you can enjoy amazing vertical views of Ama Dablam and the massive south face of Lhotse.

Walk along a high alpine trail with gentle climbs to the small settlement of Thukla. From there, climb a very steep hill to the top of Thukla Pass, where you will see stone monuments built in memory of climbers who died on Mount Everest. The trail then flattens out and follows the edge of the rocky Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche.

Walk over rough, rocky trails next to the glacier to reach Gorakshep for a quick lunch. Leave your heavy bags at the lodge and hike over shifting rocks and ice until you reach Everest Base Camp. Stand near the spectacular Khumbu Icefall, take photos at the famous rock marker, and walk back to Gorakshep before dark.

Wake up freezing cold before dawn and climb the steep, rocky switchbacks of Kala Patthar. Look out at an incredible sunrise over the peak of Mount Everest. Walk back down to Gorakshep for a hot breakfast, pack your bags, and hike back down the trail past Lobuche before veering off to the quiet village of Dzongla.

This is the hardest day of the trek, so you will start before dawn. Walk across a boulder field and climb a steep, slippery glacier to reach the top of the famous Cho La Pass. Enjoy the mountain views from the summit, then make a careful, steep descent over loose gravel and rocks down to the tiny valley settlement of Tagnag.

Enjoy a shorter and easier walk today to let your body recover from the pass. You will hike across the rough, undulating moraine of the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, which is covered in sand and gravel. Once you cross the glacier, you will enter the beautiful Gokyo Valley and walk along the edge of the third bright blue lake to reach Gokyo village.

Climb up the steep, grassy hill of Gokyo Ri early in the morning to catch the sun coming up. The top gives you an unmatched 360-degree panorama of four of the world's fourteen highest mountains: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Walk back down to the village for lunch, and spend a relaxed afternoon by the lake.

Say goodbye to the beautiful lakes and begin your journey back down toward the lower elevations. Walking down feels much faster and easier because your body gets more oxygen with every step. Follow the valley trail past high yak pastures and alpine shrubs until you reach the quiet teahouses in Dole.

Hike down through thick bamboo and rhododendron forests to the riverbed at Phortse Thanga. From there, climb a steep hill back up to the small stupa at Mong La Pass. After a quick break, enjoy a smooth, gradual downhill walk along the ridge trail until you return to the shops and comfort of Namche Bazaar.

Your final day of walking is long but familiar. Walk down the steep, rocky hill from Namche Bazaar to the river valley. Cross the high suspension bridges one last time and walk through the villages of Monjo and Phakding. Finish the day with a final uphill push to reach Lukla, where you can celebrate with your trekking team.

Board an early morning flight from Lukla back to the airport. Once you land, a private vehicle will drive you back through the countryside to your hotel in Kathmandu. Spend the afternoon enjoying a hot shower, resting your tired legs, or relaxing at a local cafe.

This extra day is kept completely free in case bad weather or heavy winds delay the flights out of Lukla. If your flight happened on time yesterday, you can use this day to explore historical temples in Kathmandu, buy souvenirs, or enjoy a final group dinner.

Enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel. Our team will pick you up from the lobby and drive you to the international airport for your flight back home, marking the end of your great Himalayan adventure.
